Description

A rich and hearty classic lasagna filled with layers of meat, cheese, and marinara sauce.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb Italian sausage
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  3. Brown the ground beef and sausage in a skillet over medium heat; drain the fat.
  4. Add marinara sauce to the meat mixture and stir to combine.
  5. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  6. Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce in the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  7. Layer 4 lasagna noodles over the sauce, then spread 1/3 of the ricotta mixture over the noodles.
  8. Add 1/3 of the mozzarella cheese and then 1/3 of the meat sauce.
  9. Repeat the layering process two more times, ending with meat sauce topped with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes; cool for 10 minutes before cutting.
